Brian Rasmussen was born in Ringsted (Denmark) in 1973. In 2000 he graduated from “The Royal Academy of Architecture” in Copenhagen. In the first year of his studies he won the Danish national student competition “PRISOPGAVE KØBENHAVN”, with a project for a futuristic tube station. After his studies he moved to Venice, Italy. In 2002 he won second prize in the national architecture competition “CHRISTIAN D. IV’S BRYGHUS” and decided to open his own architectural and design studio in Venice. In 2003 he started the research project “The meeting point between Roman baroque and the Nordic classicism”. This project became the theoretic and morphological foundation for many of his later projects. In 2004 he won the international art competition “TARGETTI LIGHT ART AWARD” which became a starting point for his career as a lighting designer. From 2004-2006 he designed and developed a streetlamp for the city Ringsted, Denmark in collaboration with Louis Poulsen Lighting.
